Jesus didn't die for frogs.

John Piper in his small book For Your Joy, wrote that God didn't die for frogs.

As I was trying to reflect something about it, this verse came into my mind that probably speaks the funny truth about what Piper said.

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:7-8

Thinking about it, even frogs are not bad enough. It would not cost the life of Christ for their salvation, because frogs DON'T SIN. We, humans are the ones who needs the rescue because we are the SINNERS. For the good news to be good the bad news has to be really bad. That's what happened on the cross, the punishment for our sins was really bad so the solution has to be really great and it is! Our sins needs an ultimate sacrifice of a sinless person and it was done through Jesus.

John Piper said;  "God didn't die for frogs. So he was responding to our value as humans." This turns grace on its head. We are worse off than frogs. They have not sinned. They have not rebelled and treated God with the contempt of being inconsequential in our lives. God did not have to die for frogs. They are not bad enough. We are. Our debt is so great only divine sacrifice can pay it.

Jesus did not die for frogs. He died for you and me. That's good news.
